In which department/unit do you work?

I work in the USDA Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC) and the Department of Nutrition.

The mission of WHNRC is to create and test nutrition or food-based dietary interventions to improve human health, to assess how individuals respond to these interventions, and to provide a research basis for national nutrition policies. As the WHNRC Human Studies Manager, I administer all aspects of human nutrition research studies, ranging from observational studies to randomized controlled diet studies. I assist researchers in developing study protocols, obtaining administrative approvals, establishing agreements or contracts, developing budgets, overseeing data collection and writing reports.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy working with a wide variety of people, including staff and academics.

In the past five years, have you had any role in Academic Federation events or activities?

For the past year, I have been working part-time as the Federation Assistant to the Vice Provost – Academic Affairs. In this role, I have the chance to learn much more about Academic Personnel on the UC Davis campus and become involved in programs and initiatives to reward and recognize the achievements of Academic Federation members.

In the past five years, have you served on any Academic Federation committees?

I have been active in many ways with the Academic Federation. I previously served as chair of the Academic Federation, served on the Executive Council, and served on the Administrative Series Personnel Committee.
